Design & BCAR Coordinator

About the Role

Key Responsibilities

• Collaborate closely and purposefully with BAM’s Design & Build Design Team (DT) and other project members.
• Prepare and issue Material Testing Specifications (MTS, also called “RDD”) to clients and technical assessors, ensuring all submissions comply with the Government’s Written Regulations (GWR), Structural Safety and Welfare Regulations (SSWR), and contract documents.
• Oversee the Design Team’s submission of Design Submissions and Designer Checklists via Autodesk Construction Cloud (ACC) Common Data Environment (CDE).
• Manage site Benchmark Mockups and First of a Kind (FoK) reviews, including recording attendance and photographic evidence, completing FoK reports, and uploading documentation to the CDE.
• Validate that all subcontractor and supplier MTS submissions include up-to-date documents such as Declarations of Performance (DOPs) and CE markings.
• Compile the design segment of bi-weekly Contractors Progress reports covering DS’s, MTS, RFIs, and related items.
• Coordinate and supervise design development from initial concept through to construction phases.
• Lead and facilitate design team meetings.
• Oversee façade system designs—including curtain walling, cladding, glazing, and brickwork—from early concepts to detailed construction drawings.
• Review and control the flow of project data through Autodesk software platforms.
• Work in coordination with M&E, structural, and architectural designers to preemptively address design clashes and technical issues.
• Track and manage design submittals, Requests for Information (RFIs), and approvals to ensure alignment with project timelines.
• Organize mock-ups, sample panels, and material selections in cooperation with architects and client representatives.
• Maintain a comprehensive understanding of Irish Building Regulations, BCAR requirements, and façade standards.

Candidate Profile

Essential Qualifications & Skills:

• Strong interpersonal and people management capabilities.
• Proficiency with Microsoft 365 suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and AutoCAD software.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills.
• Experience working within rigorously regulated environments.
• Exceptional attention to detail.
• Ability to interpret construction drawings and technical specifications accurately.
• High degree of organizational capability.

Desirable Experience and Qualifications:

• Previous site experience in Design Management, Site Management, or Project Management roles.
• Engineering degree and experience as a site or senior engineer preferred.
• Hands-on involvement with medium to large-scale construction projects.
• Awareness of construction methods and processes.
• Familiarity with web-based contract communication tools.
• Safe Pass certification and Manual Handling training.
