Database Administrator

Role Overview

We are seeking an experienced Database Administrator with over five years of practical expertise in Microsoft SQL Server to join our product-based company located in Bengaluru. The role requires a strong background in database management, performance tuning, and production environment operations, combined with proficiency in AWS technologies and automation scripting.

Key Responsibilities & Skills

• Manage and optimize Microsoft SQL Server environments, including tuning and maintaining production systems.
• Implement and support SQL Server Always On Availability Groups for high availability and disaster recovery architectures.
• Develop automated solutions using scripting tools such as PowerShell, SQL Agent jobs, and Infrastructure as Code methodologies to minimize manual interventions.
• Handle AWS database services expertise covering RDS (MySQL/PostgreSQL), Aurora, DynamoDB, and SQL Server instances on EC2.
• Use monitoring and diagnostic utilities like Idera and Redgate to maintain database health.
• Participate actively in on-call rotations to resolve critical production incidents promptly.
• Write and troubleshoot complex SQL stored procedures, analyze execution plans, and optimize query performance.
• Understand ETL and ELT workflows, with emphasis on AWS Glue as a desirable skill.
• Perform production deployments aligning with structured release management protocols.
• Communicate technical details effectively to both technical teams and non-technical stakeholders across distributed teams, particularly US-based colleagues.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with AWS native data services such as Glue, Lambda, OpenSearch, and Bedrock.
• Knowledge in data modeling, schema design, and broader enterprise data architecture concepts.
• Familiarity with Infrastructure-as-Code tools like Terraform and CloudFormation, alongside database DevOps practices.
• Experience or understanding of NoSQL databases, caching mechanisms including ElastiCache/Redis, and event-driven system architectures.
• Background in regulated sectors like healthcare, insurance, or financial services is advantageous.
• Interest or expertise in AI/ML-enhanced data workflows as the company expands its platform capabilities.

Shift Details

The position requires working hours from 10:30 PM to 7:30 AM Central Time (equivalent to 10:00 AM to 7:00 PM Indian Standard Time), collaborating with a cross-timezone team structure.
