About the role
This role exists to help Council staff follow the organisation’s data and information management rules, governance standards, and applicable legislation. You will provide practical technology guidance and support for data management and governance practices across the wider organisation.
What you will do
- Support business teams by improving, streamlining, and automating data workflows to lift data quality and meet operational needs.
- Build and review SQL-based views, triggers, and stored procedures using information drawn from multiple internal systems.
- Work out requirements and automate data tasks using tools such as FME, SQL, and robotic process automation platforms.
- Design relational databases and data models with SQL and PowerDesigner.
- Help Information Stewards investigate, fix, and prevent data issues using data management tools.
- Work with business analysts and functional analysts to align data processes with technology systems and business procedures.
- Assist in setting technical requirements for ongoing system maintenance and future enhancements.
- Provide user support on data structures, data management, and SQL scripts used for data handling tasks.
What we are looking for
To succeed in this position, you should bring at least 5 years of experience in a similar role, along with exposure to digital corporate environments. You will need hands-on experience with tools and technologies such as SQL, FME, RPA, UiPath, Power Platform, ESRI GIS tools, SAP asset management systems, and PowerDesigner or similar CASE tools. A bachelor-level qualification in computer science, information science, or another related field is preferred, although a certificate, diploma, degree, or equivalent relevant experience can also demonstrate the required level of knowledge. Strong stakeholder engagement skills, the ability to build effective working relationships, and a proactive, practical approach are also important.
What’s in it for you
- Access to training, workshops, and professional development opportunities.
- Flexible work options, including work-from-home arrangements, adjustable start and finish times, and the ability to buy additional leave.
- Exposure to different parts of the organisation through collaborative work.
- A range of staff benefits, including health-related schemes and retail discounts.
