Overview
BT Group is seeking a Data Science Specialist to join their Security Division at the Chelmsford office. This full-time, onsite role involves advancing the company's data science capabilities to support national security and protect critical infrastructure. The position requires Developed Vetting (DV) level Security Clearance, with a £5,000 annual allowance provided during employment in this capacity. Candidates must have resided in the UK for over 10 years to be eligible for the DV clearance.
Key Responsibilities
- Enhance data utilization on vital customer platforms.
- Provide mentorship to data science and AI professionals, bolstering team expertise.
- Lead development and deployment of bespoke data models, AI solutions, and intelligent algorithms.
- Explore new opportunities to apply machine learning and data science for optimized results.

Essential Skills and Desired Experience
- Proficient in data analysis, including the interpretation of graphs, networks, time-series, numerical algorithms, and geospatial data.
- Strong programming and scripting capabilities with languages such as Python and Scala.
- Experience with machine learning frameworks like scikit-learn, TensorFlow, and PyTorch.
- Basic DevOps and Linux system skills including SSH, shell scripting, cron jobs, package management, and version control.
- Knowledge of cyber analytics for identifying threats in network data.
- Experienced in software development using compiled and interpreted languages with libraries such as Pandas and NumPy.
