Data Engineering Team Leader

Role Overview

As a Data Engineering Team Leader at a leading bank, you will act as the primary data custodian representing business interests within executive governance forums. You will drive divisional data initiatives, ensuring alignment with enterprise data management frameworks and strategies, while bridging communication between business units and data management teams. Your leadership will guarantee adherence to data policies and standards related to your division.

Key Responsibilities

• Support developing and implementing policies, procedures, and controls for managing data stewardship across all data sources.
• Oversee daily data stewardship operations, confirming compliance with established processes and policies.
• Lead data stewardship at the divisional level, serving as the main business point of contact for data-related matters.
• Engage with business areas to understand and advocate their data requirements and facilitate data provision.
• Represent the business unit in the Enterprise Data Governance Committee, promoting unified data standards and views.
• Facilitate awareness in business units about data's strategic role in business performance.
• Manage relationships with data consumers to ensure their needs are met.
• Provide guidance and leadership to subordinates on their role as Enterprise Data Stewards across all organizational levels.
• Lead the Enterprise Data Steward Unit by setting objectives, recruiting and developing team members, managing performance, and fostering motivation to ensure division targets are met.

Required Qualifications and Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in Information Management Systems or Computer Science; a Master’s degree in Management Information Systems is preferred.
• 6 to 8 years of relevant experience in data and information management, ideally within the banking sector.
• Advanced proficiency in English.

• Deep understanding of the bank’s strategic objectives.
• Capability to present complex information effectively to senior leadership.
• Strong project management expertise.
• Comprehensive knowledge of banking regulations relevant to data management.
