Position Summary

We are looking for a mid-level Data Analyst / Data Scientist to enhance turbine operations and engineering reliability. This role combines data engineering, statistical and machine learning modeling, and industry knowledge of turbines to boost fleet dependability, minimize unexpected downtime, and provide operational and financial insights to engineering teams and business leaders. The candidate should comfortably transition between dashboard development for business users and predictive modeling of equipment health.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and sustain P&L dashboards monitoring turbine fleet financial metrics, availability, and cost factors.
• Transform operational data into transparent financial and performance KPIs for both engineering and business leadership.
• Support regular reporting cycles with timely and precise data.
• Aggregate, cleanse, and organize turbine downtime data from various sources including SCADA, CMMS, OEM reports, and field logs.
• Analyze and categorize downtime causes such as mechanical, electrical, control system, weather, or grid-related issues.
• Maintain a robust and accessible historical database documenting outages and maintenance across the turbine fleet.
• Create and implement predictive models using machine learning and statistical methods to anticipate turbine downtime and component wear before failures occur.
• Develop anomaly detection and early-warning mechanisms based on sensor and operational data (vibration, temperature, pressure, combustion metrics).
• Collaborate with engineering to verify model results against physical failure modes and OEM standards.
• Continuously refine models using new failure data and monitor their performance over time.
• Partner with Reliability Managers and engineering teams to detect trends contributing to forced outages and performance reductions.
• Utilize data insights to support root cause analyses and recommend adjustments in maintenance intervals or strategies aligned with reliability-centered or predictive maintenance.
• Work cross-functionally with Operations, Engineering, and Asset Management to ensure data pipelines accurately reflect turbine operations.
• Communicate findings to audiences ranging from technical specialists to executive leadership.

Required Qualifications and Experience

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in Data Science, Statistics, Computer Science, Engineering, or related disciplines.
• 2 to 5 years of data analysis experience, ideally including industrial, energy, or manufacturing contexts.
• Proficiency in SQL and Python (including libraries like pandas and scikit-learn).
• Experience building dashboards with tools such as Power BI or Tableau.
• Strong grasp of statistical analysis and predictive modeling strategies.
• Effective communication of complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
• Knowledge in time-series forecasting, anomaly detection, and condition-based monitoring.
• Familiarity with SCADA or historian data platforms like OSIsoft PI.
• Understanding of reliability engineering principles including MTBF, RCM, and FMEA.
• Experience working with cloud platforms such as Azure or AWS and ML deployment workflows.
