About the Role
This part-time position as a Cyber Security Analyst allows you to operate remotely from any location. The role focuses on protecting organizational systems and data by monitoring and analyzing security alerts and incidents. It involves identifying vulnerabilities and responding effectively to security threats to ensure system integrity and safety.
Key Responsibilities
- Monitor security data from a variety of sources including SIEM platforms, firewalls, and IDS/IPS solutions.
- Investigate security breaches, evaluate their extent, impact, and root causes.
- Establish and maintain security measures aimed at reducing risks and preventing future incidents.
- Carry out vulnerability assessments and suggest corrective actions to mitigate security gaps.
- Document all incident details clearly in comprehensive reports including actions taken and recommendations.
Qualifications and Skills Needed
- Proficiency with SIEM tools such as Splunk, QRadar, or equivalent technologies.
- Strong understanding of network security protocols, firewalls, and intrusion detection and prevention systems.
- Experience utilizing vulnerability evaluation tools like Nessus, OpenVAS, or Qualys.
- Familiarity with security standards and frameworks such as NIST, ISO 27001, or CIS Controls.
- Skilled in analyzing logs and network traffic to pinpoint irregularities and security threats.
- Knowledge of incident management procedures and security response best practices.
- Detail-oriented problem solver capable of independent time management in a remote work context.
