Job description

Role Overview

This role involves conducting CT examinations and procedures across all patient age groups with an emphasis on maintaining patient safety.

Key Responsibilities

  • Organize and manage shift schedules and coverage within the CT modality.
  • Develop and lead educational and training initiatives related to equipment operation, updated protocols, patient safety measures, and professional growth for staff.
  • Drive performance enhancement, boost efficiency and productivity, foster employee engagement, and improve patient experience through targeted programs.
  • Act as a senior consultative technical expert, contributing to the supervision and technical advancement of the radiology department in coordination with management.
  • Support diagnostic supervisors by maintaining section records and providing required statistical reports to facilitate administrative activities.
  • Prepare patients appropriately for CT studies by reviewing charts and requisitions, ensuring proper setup, and identifying relevant medical concerns.
  • Perform diagnostic CT scans adhering strictly to established protocols.
  • Manage image collection and digital archiving for physician and radiologist review and documentation.
  • Maintain records meticulously including tracking physical films and ensuring correct filing.
  • Monitor and maintain equipment by cleaning, performing minor repairs, and ensuring operational readiness.
  • Identify any potential equipment malfunctions and report to ensure safety of patients and operators.
  • Ensure compliance with quality assurance standards and maintain necessary documentation in the CT department.
  • Oversee procurement of supplies essential for patient care and departmental operations.
  • Uphold patient radiation safety by following established protocols diligently.
  • Provide guidance, training, and mentoring to newly recruited staff and radiology students.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Radiography or graduation from an accredited diploma program of at least three years is required.
  • Alternatively, graduation from a two-year accredited Radiography program coupled with registration in relevant professional bodies such as the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers, Canadian Association of Medical Radiation Technologists, UK Health Professions Council, or equivalent is mandatory.
  • Possession of a Master’s degree in Medical Imaging or a relevant clinical master’s degree is desirable and may reduce required experience by one year.
  • Completion of didactic coursework in CT imaging is preferred.

Skills and Abilities

  • Excellent ability to collaborate with physicians and radiologists to ensure accurate patient imaging.
  • Capability to operate with minimal supervision efficiently.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Fluency in English (both spoken and written) is essential.
  • Proficiency in Arabic is advantageous.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of cross-sectional anatomy and associated pathological conditions.
