Crewing Officer

About the role

Boskalis is looking for a Crewing Officer to support complex marine and infrastructure operations by ensuring the right crew are placed on vessels at the right time, within budget and in line with applicable standards. The role is based in Abu Dhabi and sits within the Smit Lamnalco crewing team, supporting vessels owned by Smit Lamnalco, part of the Boskalis group.

In this position, you will handle the full crewing cycle for allocated vessels and regions, while also contributing to crew development, compliance, localisation efforts, and service improvements. You will work closely with internal teams, crew members, and external crewing agencies to help deliver reliable crewing support and strengthen overall operations.

Key accountabilities

• Own the complete crewing workflow for designated vessels and regions, covering recruitment, screening, appointment, contracting, and timely crew placement.
• Ensure all crewing activities align with company rules as well as STCW, flag state, port state, ISM, and client requirements.
• Monitor agency performance and take part in audits and compliance checks.
• Coordinate training, progress reviews, and development planning for crew members, including recommendations for advancement.
• Serve as a main contact for crew-related matters and assist internal stakeholders in resolving operational and personnel issues.
• Support improvements in crewing operations through stakeholder collaboration, crew localisation initiatives, Shipmate implementation, and partnership with Crewing Managers.

Requirements

• A bachelor’s degree, preferably in a relevant discipline.
• 4 to 6 years of relevant work experience, ideally gained in the maritime sector.
• Practical knowledge of crewing workflows, logistics processes, and operational coordination.
• Working understanding of STCW rules and flag state and port state legislation.
• Strong ability to manage stakeholders and a proactive mindset toward safe, compliant working practices.

Additional information

You will be part of the Smit Lamnalco crewing team based in Abu Dhabi. This is a full-time position.
