Overview
The Wise County Board of Supervisors is seeking a qualified individual to fill the role of County Administrator. This key appointed position reports directly to the Board and serves as the chief administrative and operational leader for the county government.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee and coordinate all county government operations and services.
- Manage staffing and budgeting processes effectively.
- Advise and support the Board of Supervisors regarding governance and operational matters.
- Plan, organize, and lead departmental programs, services, and staff activities.
Required Knowledge and Skills
- In-depth understanding of public and business administration principles, practices, and techniques including finance and personnel management.
- Experience in managing government or business operations is preferred.
- Comprehensive knowledge of local government laws, ordinances, and regulations as well as state laws related to public procurement.
- Strong oral and written communication skills combined with advanced computer literacy.
- Ability to analyze complex data, make detailed decisions, and work independently.
- Proven ability to build strategic partnerships and manage services and programs efficiently.
Education and Experience
Applicants must possess at least a bachelor’s degree in business administration, public administration, or a related field from an accredited college or university. Demonstrated success in financial and budget management, growth management, strategic planning, staff development, and community collaboration is essential.
Salary and Benefits
Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. Benefits include participation in the Virginia Retirement System, health, dental and vision insurance, and paid vacation, sick leave, and holidays.
Additional Requirements
The County Administrator is required to reside within Wise County, Virginia.
