Job description
Role Overview
Ventia is looking to recruit skilled Communications Technicians specializing in Inside Plant work to support key infrastructure within the power network. This position centers on handling low-voltage power systems and communication equipment in controlled environments.
Primary Responsibilities
- Installing and commissioning low-voltage DC power systems, including performing battery tests and maintenance.
- Deploying and commissioning transmission systems such as OTN, MPLS, SDH, and PDH.
- Testing and bringing into service inside plant communication devices.
- Diagnosing faults and troubleshooting issues in communications and DC power systems.
- Performing installation, splicing, and termination of both copper and fiber optic cables.
- Reading, interpreting, and updating technical drawings, schematics, and wiring diagrams.
- Working at heights, which is advantageous.
Candidate Profile
- Proven technical knowledge with a focus on safety in critical infrastructure, power, or telecom sectors.
- Hands-on experience in installing and commissioning low voltage power plants.
- Familiarity with battery systems and corresponding testing methodologies.
- Exposure to protection systems is preferred.
- Practical skills in fiber splicing and installation techniques.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving aptitude.
- Good physical condition to perform ladder-related tasks safely.
- Team-oriented mindset with a strong safety commitment.
- Electrical registration is a plus.
