Job description
Overview
This role entails performing a diverse set of patient care duties under the guidance of a physician, physician extender, or registered nurse, all while adhering to established clinical protocols and standards. The responsibilities include a combination of administrative front office tasks and clinical back office functions.
Qualifications
- Minimum requirement is a high school diploma.
- Successful completion of an accredited Medical Assistant program or Nursing Assistant program is mandatory; alternatively, candidates with two years of relevant clinical experience in medical assisting may qualify instead of formal education.
Experience
- At least one year of practical experience within a medical office environment paired with completion of Medical Assistant or Nursing Assistant training, or alternatively, two years of equivalent clinical experience if lacking certification.
Licenses and Certifications
- Certification as a Medical Assistant (CMA) accredited by the American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA) or an equivalent certifying institution.
- Basic Life Support (BCLS) certification is required.
