Overview
Healix International is seeking a skilled Registered Nurse to join their APAC Clinical Operations team based in Auckland, New Zealand. This rewarding position offers the chance to move from a clinical setting to an office environment while utilizing clinical expertise to coordinate medical care for internationally injured or ill patients and support their families throughout unfamiliar healthcare processes globally.
Job Responsibilities
- Perform medical case management focused on patient care and satisfaction.
- Provide medical guidance and advice through phone and digital channels to patients and clients.
- Coordinate with healthcare providers worldwide to gather medical data, oversee treatment plans, and recommend appropriate care.
- Review medical reports, prepare referrals, and ensure timely, suitable patient care meeting duty-of-care requirements.
- Assess local healthcare standards versus international best practices and advise on travel fitness, including fitness to fly.
- Conduct pre-travel medical evaluations and provide comprehensive overseas travel health recommendations.
- Collaborate with non-medical team members and in-house physicians to create safe, patient-focused care plans.
- Organize medical evacuations and repatriations via commercial flights with medical escorts or air ambulances.
- Opportunity to function as a medical escort on international repatriations.
- Support internal quality improvement programs.
Candidate Profile and Requirements
- Current Registered Nurse with active New Zealand Nursing Council registration.
- Preferably possess a minimum of three years post-registration clinical experience.
- Experience in case management or care coordination is a strong advantage.
- Clinical background may include primary care, general medical or surgical nursing for adults or children, acute care (such as ICU or Emergency Department), military or expedition nursing, public or travel health nursing, or humanitarian/NGO assignments.
- Excellent clinical judgement and ability to detect and escalate urgent medical issues.
- Strong communication skills, particularly telephone etiquette and professional written English.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and case management software.
- Ability to perform effectively under pressure in a dynamic, worldwide healthcare setting.
- Adaptability, empathy, and a solution-oriented mindset.
- Additional language skills are highly valued.
- Enjoys collaborative work and developing clear patient-centered treatment plans.
- Basic IT competency and strong written and verbal communication skills are essential.
- Capable of managing caseload independently and working within a team.
