Role Overview
We seek two Executive Directors to join the Company's Board, with one also assuming the role of Chief Executive Officer. Both positions bear Board-level accountability for the responsible and prudent management of the Company. Early responsibilities focus heavily on developing a robust, compliant operational capacity, fostering trust with clientele and regulators, and assuring exceptional service delivery. Additionally, these roles contribute to business and product development as well as regional expansion.
As members of senior management and the Board applying for a Major Payment Institution license, the successful candidates must participate in the license application process, including interviews and fit-and-proper assessments by the Monetary Authority of Singapore (MAS). Candidates are required to meet MAS criteria concerning integrity, capability, reputation, and financial robustness.
Key Duties
- Deliver Board-level leadership, ensuring the Company’s adherence to MAS licensing standards.
- Develop and oversee the regulated payment services operation in Singapore by establishing scalable operating models, governance frameworks, and compliant reporting mechanisms consistent with regulatory and Group expectations.
- Manage regulatory compliance, risk management, and operational controls including AML/CFT, third-party risk, technology risk, and business continuity in coordination with Compliance Officers and Board committees.
- Identify, evaluate, and mitigate critical risks such as AML/CFT, fraud, operational, and technology-related hazards.
- Promote regional business expansion by spotting commercial opportunities and aligning the Company’s positioning within cross-border payments and e-commerce sectors.
- Maintain and deepen relationships with merchants, banking partners, regulators, and other stakeholders, acting as a senior escalation contact for operational issues.
- Lead business development and commercial planning including pipeline and partner management, pricing strategies, and long-term revenue objectives in collaboration with Group leadership.
- Continuously improve process efficiencies, system capabilities, customer service, and operational quality.
- Assure robust local oversight of technology and security, working closely with the Group’s technology teams.
- Recruit and develop a high-performance local workforce through leadership, mentorship, and fostering a compliance-focused culture.
- Exhibit high integrity, strong judgment, and independence, especially concerning regulatory compliance.
Candidate Profile
- Minimum five years of managerial experience in payments, fintech, e-commerce/cross-border payments, banking, or related financial services sectors.
- Proven leadership in operations, service delivery, and customer experience, preferably within regulated environments.
- Experience establishing or scaling operational models and teams, especially within startup contexts or newly licensed entities.
- Track record of driving business growth through client acquisition, partnerships, or strategic commercial initiatives.
- Experience collaborating across multiple APAC markets, with cross-border and cross-cultural teamwork.
- Comprehensive knowledge of risk, governance, and MAS regulatory frameworks; familiarity with Payment Services Act and MPI obligations is advantageous.
- Ability to manage strategic priorities while engaging in hands-on leadership suitable for early-stage companies.
- Possesses sufficient expertise and authority to ensure effective oversight and control of company operations and personnel.
- Eligible to act as a director and to be based at a MAS-licensed Singapore entity.
