Job Overview
The Buyer role supports the purchasing team by managing sourcing activities, handling purchase orders, supplier coordination, and invoice reconciliation. The position entails maintaining efficient and cost-effective procurement operations, including handling petty cash purchases and vehicle servicing requests.
Key Responsibilities
- Obtain and assess supplier quotations for approval processes.
- Generate and oversee purchase orders throughout their lifecycle.
- Collaborate with both local and international suppliers to meet delivery timelines.
- Ensure accurate receipting of goods by the designated Invoicing and Receipting department and closure of purchase orders.
- Manage petty cash purchases and vehicle maintenance requests.
- Reconcile supplier invoices to facilitate timely payments.
- Strive to meet departmental key performance indicators (KPIs).
- Comply with all Sandvik policies and especially adhere to Safety, Health, Environment, and Quality (SHEQ) standards.
Required Qualifications and Skills
- Bachelor’s degree in Purchasing and Supply Management.
- Professional certification such as part-qualification in CIPS or equivalent is necessary.
- At least three years of relevant experience in purchasing or supply roles.
- Proficient use of MS Office tools and experience with Aurora software.
- Strong communication and presentation capabilities.
- Ability to work collaboratively in multi-disciplinary teams.
- Valid Class B driver’s license with driving capability.
- Strong adherence to company policies, particularly SHEQ standards.
