Job description
Role Overview
St Mary’s Music School seeks candidates for both full-time and part-time Houseparent roles within their Boarding House. The Houseparent's primary responsibility is to ensure the wellbeing, safety, and happiness of student boarders through attentive care and supervision.
Key Duties
- Maintain a secure and nurturing environment for boarders, focusing on their physical and emotional wellbeing.
- Monitor and support young musicians, requiring energy, adaptability, and empathy to address their specific pastoral needs.
- Fulfill evening supervisory duties and weekend shifts during school terms.
- Participate in overnight residence on a rotating duty schedule.
Qualifications and Registration
Houseparents must be registered with the Scottish Social Services Council (SSSC) or an approved equivalent regulatory body such as the General Teaching Council, Nursing and Midwifery Council, or General Social Care Council. Candidates not currently registered will be supported by the school to undertake necessary training to achieve full registration with the SSSC.
