Barista - Specialty Hot Drinks

About the Role

We are looking for an experienced and enthusiastic Barista specializing in specialty hot drinks to become part of our hospitality team. The ideal candidate should possess comprehensive expertise in crafting specialty coffees and other hot beverages and demonstrate a dedication to delivering premium quality drinks alongside outstanding customer experience.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare and serve a variety of specialty coffees and hot beverages following established recipes and presentation protocols.
• Make espresso-based drinks such as espresso, Americano, cappuccino, latte, flat white, macchiato, mocha, and more specialty creations.
• Create signature hot beverages, including seasonal and innovative recipes.
• Execute high-quality latte art where applicable.
• Apply expert knowledge of espresso extraction, milk steaming, texture, and temperature regulation.
• Maintain consistency and quality throughout high-volume service while working efficiently.
• Prepare specialty teas, hot chocolate, chai, matcha, and other non-coffee hot drinks as needed.
• Adhere to standard recipes, portion control, preparation techniques, and aesthetic guidelines.
• Keep the barista station clean, organized, and fully stocked during service hours.
• Operate espresso machines, grinders, and other brewing equipment properly and ensure their daily care including cleaning and calibration.
• Monitor and communicate the need for replenishing coffee, milk, syrups, garnishes, cups, and other supplies.
• Minimize waste without compromising product quality or consistency.
• Comply with all food safety, hygiene, health, and safety protocols.
• Collaborate effectively with service and kitchen teams to maintain smooth operations.
• Assist in developing and testing new specialty drink menus and seasonal beverages when required.
• Maintain professional appearance, positive demeanor, and high personal hygiene standards.

Candidate Requirements

• At least 2 years of experience as a Barista in specialty coffee shops, upscale restaurants, hotels, cafés, or premium hospitality settings.
• Thorough knowledge of specialty coffee preparation and espresso beverages.
• Proven proficiency operating and maintaining professional espresso machines and grinders.
• Strong skills in milk steaming, texturing, and latte art.
• Experience preparing signature and specialty hot beverages.
• Understanding of coffee beans, roast profiles, extraction methods, and brewing basics.
• Awareness of food safety and hygiene regulations.
• Excellent communication and customer service capabilities.
• Ability to perform effectively under pressure during busy periods.
• High attention to detail and dedication to product consistency.
• Professional grooming and presentation standards.
• Fluent in English; additional languages are beneficial.
• Possession of Barista or specialty coffee certification is preferred.
