Audio Visual (AV) Commissioning Engineer

Role overview

A technology solutions provider in Doha is seeking an Audio Visual Commissioning Engineer to take charge of commissioning, testing, calibration, and integration of AV environments. The role focuses on ensuring that audio, video, lighting, and control systems are delivered at the expected performance level and are ready for successful handover.

Core responsibilities

• Set up, configure, and fine-tune integrated AV, lighting, and control solutions so they operate smoothly together.
• Carry out detailed testing, diagnostics, troubleshooting, and issue resolution during the commissioning stage.
• Adjust and optimize equipment such as speakers, microphones, DSPs, displays, projectors, cameras, and conferencing tools for best output.
• Integrate AV control platforms and refine touch panels and control interfaces to create a simple, user-friendly experience.
• Check that the final system matches project documents, technical drawings, and client expectations before handover.
• Make sure the solution aligns with industry standards and protocols including HDMI, HDBaseT, Dante, AES67, and related technologies.
• Work closely with AV designers, programmers, project managers, and installation teams to keep delivery on schedule.
• Produce and update commissioning records such as configuration details, test results, calibration logs, and as-built changes.
• Assist with final acceptance testing and support client sign-off.
• Guide on-site teams during installation and help solve integration issues as they arise.
• Train end users on system operation, key functions, and basic maintenance.
• Offer technical support during handover and throughout the warranty period when needed.
• Explain technical matters clearly to clients, consultants, and internal teams throughout the project.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Audio Visual Technology, Computer Science, or a related engineering field.
• About 5 to 8 years of experience in AV commissioning, system integration, or a comparable technical position.
• Solid understanding of professional AV systems, including audio, video, control, networking, and signal distribution.
• Practical experience with amplifiers, DSP processors, displays, projectors, routing devices, microphones, cameras, and conferencing systems.
• Ability to use AV testing, calibration, and measurement equipment effectively.
• Exposure to platforms such as Crestron, Extron, QSC, Microsoft Teams, and Zoom is a plus.
• Strong knowledge of AV standards and protocols such as HDMI, HDBaseT, Dante, and AES67.
• Excellent analytical thinking, troubleshooting ability, and attention to detail.
• Capable of working independently as well as within cross-functional project teams.
• Strong communication skills and the ability to document technical work clearly.
• CTS certification or another relevant AV credential will be an added advantage.
