Job Overview
This role involves serving as a personal and confidential assistant to Commissioner Dwyer, both during court sessions and outside, supporting all functions tied to the Member's responsibilities. The Associate is tasked with delivering comprehensive executive assistance to ensure the efficient and effective management of the Member's caseload.
Key Duties
- Oversee the Member's chambers, including upkeep of the library, diary management, confidential filing, indexing, and document storage of decisions.
- Ensure the smooth operation of the courtroom by managing facility readiness, precise and prompt scheduling of cases, safeguarding exhibits, controlling court files, attending to the Member in court, and recording judicial orders.
- Support the Member professionally with managing hearings, meetings, travel logistics, and handling incoming communications.
- Conduct thorough research on awards, orders, court and commission decisions, and related jurisdictional interpretations as requested by the Member.
- Draft, review, and format all official documents concerning the Member's decisions including awards, amendments, orders, and agreements.
- Communicate with the Registrar, Registry personnel, legal professionals, government bodies, trade unions, employers, media representatives, and the public.
- Maintain high-quality standards in all tasks, complying with quality assurance policies and Registry procedures for Associates.
- Coordinate workflow between the Member and the Registry to facilitate efficient processes and ensure the accuracy and documentation of all case matters assigned to the Member.
- Perform additional duties as assigned by the Member periodically.

- Strong interest and sound knowledge in industrial relations and employment law, including familiarity with key legislation and judicial precedents relevant to the Court and Commission.

- Strong written and verbal communication along with interpersonal skills.
