As the country's largest private producer of thermal power, Adani Power Limited (APL) operates across multiple states, providing more than 15,000 MW of power, including coal-based and solar plants.
Role Overview
The Associate Manager – Operations is accountable for the continuous and efficient functioning of critical power plant systems, such as Boiler, Turbine, Generator, Balance of Plant (BOP), and the switchyard, while upholding robust environmental and safety standards. This position also encompasses executing start-up and shut-down protocols, handling emergencies, and ensuring all activities comply with regulatory guidelines.
Key Responsibilities
- Supervise the operation and monitoring of core plant systems to maintain optimal performance and prompt trouble-shooting of deviations.
- Implement scheduled and emergency start-up/shut-down processes for systems such as Boiler, Turbine, Generator, Electrical, and BOP components.
- Respond swiftly to operational emergencies within Boiler-Turbine-Generator (BTG) and switchyard; ensure robust coordination and safety measures.
- Conduct routine changeovers and test the functionality of emergency drives as required.
- Oversee and operate Flue Gas Desulfurization (FGD) systems to maintain emissions control and compliance.
- Accurately maintain up-to-date logbooks for all plant operations.
- Advance initiatives for energy efficiency by monitoring and managing Specific Oil Consumption (SOC), Auxiliary Power Consumption (APC), demineralized water, and overall heat rates.
- Monitor chemistry controls to support both operational integrity and environmental requirements.
- Champion the adherence to Integrated Management System (IMS), various safety programs, and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) within the plant.
- Promote and implement digitization and automation solutions for process optimization and technology adoption.
- Report any anomalies or defects within the plant's operations promptly to shift in charge.
Stakeholder Collaboration
- Coordinate closely with maintenance engineering teams and other internal departments to ensure seamless operations.
Qualifications
- A Bachelor’s degree (BE/B.Tech) in Mechanical, Electrical Engineering, or a directly related discipline from an accredited institution.
- A minimum of 9 years’ experience in power plant operations, with a substantial portion spent working in thermal power facilities.
- Previous exposure to the power generation sector—especially thermal power plants—is highly sought after.
