  • By three months, independently oversee logistics and onsite coordination for membership events, confidently assist members throughout event phases, and offer suggestions to enhance communication standards, guest management, and administrative processes.
  • At six months and beyond, evaluate and improve membership event benefits to increase value and address any fulfillment issues; initiate and implement at least one project related to events or adjacent areas aimed at boosting revenue or donor retention in the next fiscal year; operate with autonomy in decision-making and execution.

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan and coordinate annually a series of 15 to 20 membership-focused events, managing schedules, run-of-show details, staffing, and event day operations.
  • Manage guest lists, invitations, RSVP tracking, and event check-in procedures.
  • Partner with Special Events, Public Programs, and Research Libraries to create impactful member benefits.
  • Lead onsite event execution, overseeing both volunteers and staff.
  • Liaise with external vendors and internal teams to deliver both event-related and other membership benefits.
  • Develop initiatives aimed at increasing event participation, revenue generation, and member retention.
  • Work alongside Development Operations and Online Giving teams to promote events and feature them in membership communications.
  • Stay informed on current best practices regarding events, membership, and stewardship, recommending and applying improvements where applicable.
  • Perform additional related duties as assigned.

Qualifications and Skills

  • Bachelor's degree required.
  • Two to five years of experience in event planning, membership programs, hospitality, or customer service.

  • Able to engage effectively at all organizational levels and exercise sound decision-making.
  • Experience with Raiser’s Edge or similar CRM/database platforms is preferred.

  • Hybrid work schedule: three days in the office at 270 Madison Avenue, New York, NY, and two days remote.
  • Regular working hours: Monday to Friday, 9 AM to 5 PM.
  • Occasional need to work evenings or weekends as events require.
