Role Overview
We are seeking a dedicated Assistant Psychologist to join our team within Kent and Medway Mental Health NHS Trust. This role requires sensitivity to personal and societal biases across diverse backgrounds, aligning with our commitment to increase diversity within clinical psychology. The position is based in Maidstone, with responsibilities spanning multiple sites including Maidstone and Tunbridge Wells.
Key Responsibilities
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams under supervision of qualified psychologists to provide psychological assessments and interventions.
- Deliver individual and group psychological support while working independently according to plans agreed by senior staff.
- Engage with carers and broader care teams to support patient wellbeing.
- Work three days per week, travelling between locations, attending meetings across Kent, and conducting timely home visits as required.
Candidate Requirements
- Eligibility for Graduate Basis for Chartership with the British Psychological Society (BPS) as a Psychology Graduate.
- Possession of a full UK driving licence with access to a vehicle, or an appropriate exemption under the Equality Act 2010.
- Ability to understand and manage complexities related to moderate to severe perinatal difficulties.
- Competency or eagerness to rapidly develop skills in psychological formulation under qualified supervision.
- Comfortable working collaboratively within multidisciplinary teams and valuing diverse professional contributions.
- Strong organizational, time management, and professional communication skills.
- Capability to engage effectively with diverse service users, their families, and multidisciplinary colleagues.
- A positive, flexible attitude towards work challenges.
