Role Summary

The Assignment Desk Professional will be responsible for organizing news coverage by monitoring breaking developments, planning daily as well as longer-term assignments, and ensuring effective deployment of reporters and camera crews. This full-time position requires on-site presence in New Delhi.

Key Responsibilities

  • Continuously track multiple news sources, verifying information and prioritizing news stories for coverage.
  • Maintain real-time news diaries and assignment logs to oversee daily operations.
  • Liaise closely with reporters, editors, and bureau teams by delivering clear instructions and following up to guarantee high-quality news output.
  • Support logistical arrangements and sustain smooth communication workflows across teams.
  • Contribute to editorial planning aimed at producing content for various platforms.

Required Qualifications and Skills

  • Experience working in a newsroom or media setting, especially in news coordination or assignment desk roles.
  • Adept news judgment to identify and prioritize stories spanning politics, business, sports, entertainment, and social matters.
  • Strong communication, coordination, and stakeholder management abilities.
  • Capacity to work efficiently under pressure, handle multiple tasks, and swiftly adjust to breaking news events.
  • Proficient with newsroom management software, content management systems, and digital tools to monitor news wires and social media.
  • Excellent organizational and documentation skills for maintaining schedules and coverage plans.
  • Fluency in English with advantageous knowledge of regional languages.
  • Educational background in Journalism, Mass Communication, Media Studies, or relevant experience.
  • Flexibility to work outside regular hours including evenings, weekends, and holidays as news demands.
