About the Role
Indiewalls is engaged in ambitious commercial art ventures throughout the United States, emphasizing collaborations with independent artists. We seek a highly innovative, well-organized, and diligent individual to join our Curatorial team. Serving clients such as boutique hotels, extensive office properties, luxury residential designers, and prominent brands, the Curator will be instrumental in conceptualizing, discovering, acquiring, and commissioning contemporary artworks from independent creators.
This position blends a passion for art and design with strong work ethics, digital proficiency, and a flair for creative problem-solving in a dynamic, remote work setting.
Key Responsibilities
- Craft tailored artwork proposals tailored to client styles, budgets, and strict deadlines.
- Identify and evaluate independent artists fit for specific commissions while assisting them with concept creation and proposal development.
- Provide expert guidance to upscale clients including interior designers, developers, and brands on selecting artworks, sizing, positioning, and spatial details.
- Lead end-to-end management of complex commissions such as large custom pieces and multi-site commercial installations encompassing hundreds of unique artworks.
- Maintain robust artist relations from initial contact and portfolio collection to negotiating contracts and pricing terms.
- Optimize project profitability through effective artist fee negotiation and diligent management of financial aspects such as gross margins.
- Work collaboratively with internal project teams and external partners to ensure accurate, timely project execution.
- Supervise quality assurance ensuring artworks meet client expectations, including conducting on-site visits or studio inspections, requiring minimal domestic travel approximately once monthly.
Candidate Requirements
- Minimum of four years’ experience in art consulting, curatorship, interior design operations, or project management within creative sectors.
- Excellent discernment in contemporary art, interior design styles, and spatial dynamics.
- A well-developed network among independent artists and an enthusiasm for identifying emerging talent.
- Confidence to make decisive curatorial suggestions and communicate them effectively to discerning clientele.
- Skilled in interpreting architectural blueprints, floor plans, and elevation drawings.
- Outstanding communication abilities, building rapport through email, telephone, video conferencing, and in-person meetings.
- Strong organizational talents, adept at juggling multiple projects with demanding timelines.
- Familiarity with Google Workspace tools (Gmail, Drive, Docs, Sheets) and Adobe Creative Suite.
- Experience with project management platforms such as Asana, Airtable, or Monday.com viewed favorably.
- Graphic design knowledge is an advantage.

- Annual salary ranging from $55,000 to $80,000, based on experience.
