Job Overview
This position plays a crucial role in ensuring the safe, secure, and efficient management of airside operations by conducting systematic and detailed inspections of the entire movement areas including runways, taxiways, aprons, and other operational zones. The role supports daily operations by monitoring activities in accordance with DGCA and ICAO guidelines and company policies, thereby promoting safe and uninterrupted airport functionality during assigned shifts.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform regular inspections of runways, taxiways, aprons, and other operational areas, following up promptly on any identified issues.
- Continuously oversee radio communications between Air Traffic Control (ATC) and aircraft within the Area of Responsibility to confirm correct instructions are acknowledged and adhered to.
- Identify, report, and initiate preventive actions for any potential safety hazards in the airside environment.
- Support coordination and safety of aircraft movements on the apron, ensuring operational safety throughout.
- Keep track of temporary obstacles and obstructions, escalating concerns to Apron Control or Operations Duty Manager as needed.
- Supervise hot work activities on the apron to guarantee safe execution.
- Ensure vegetation maintenance complies with relevant regulations.
- Conduct external assessments of Passenger Boarding Bridges and report anomalies promptly.
- Inspect areas after maintenance work or high-power engine tests and report findings.
- Monitor the functionality of obstruction lights on airside equipment and report any malfunctions.
- Observe and report bird and wildlife activities under the wildlife hazard management program and assist related teams in wildlife deterrence measures aimed at limiting bird strikes.
- Monitor apron safety and security compliance, including observing traffic violations and providing "Follow Me" guidance to aircraft or vehicles as needed.
- Assist in managing fuel or oil spill incidents by securing affected areas.
- Facilitate approved works, oversee handovers during runway maintenance, and manage VVIP/VIP aircraft movements.
- Implement procedures during low visibility conditions, including supervising traffic marshals and enforcing vehicle control measures.
- Respond promptly to emergencies, provide support for drills and exercises, and manage incidents or accidents airside.
- Maintain accurate logs and checklists, and ensure effective communication with Air Traffic Control, Airport Operations Control Center, and other key stakeholders.
- Supervise approximately 50 vendor personnel during shifts.
Required Qualifications and Experience
- Graduate degree with relevant experience in airside operations or Air Traffic Control.
- Possession of a valid Light Motor Vehicle (LMV) driving license.
- Familiarity with aerodrome design and operations, including Annex 14, DGCA CAR Section 4 Series B Part I, Doc 9157, 9137, and other aviation standards and policies.
- Ability to adhere strictly to instructions and standard operating procedures.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and internet usage.
- At least seven years of experience within the aviation sector.
- Strong communication and reporting abilities.
- Willingness to work outdoors across varied weather conditions and on rotating shifts including nights, weekends, and holidays.

External and Internal Coordination
- Liaise with ATC, Ground Handling Agencies, Airlines, Caterers, Fuel suppliers, Vendors (cleaning/grass cutting), security forces including CISF, NSG, Delhi Police, and Indian Air Force.
- Collaborate closely with Airport Operations Control Centre, Planning & Engineering, Aircraft Rescue and Fire Fighting, Terminal Operations, Traffic Management Team, and airport security.
