Overview
This role is based in the Bristol office, requiring attendance at least twice a month on Tuesdays, with Mondays as part of the working schedule. The Forestry England website plays a central role in connecting various audiences such as outdoor enthusiasts, families, donors, volunteers, and timber purchasers.
The Website Manager will ensure the site is regularly maintained and advanced in line with Forestry England’s strategic goals, aiming to boost visitor numbers to forests, raise awareness of Forestry England’s efforts, and promote its products and services.
Main Responsibilities
- Collaborate closely with the web developer and senior digital manager to continuously improve and align the website with business needs and stakeholder expectations.
- Work alongside the website officer and internal teams to uphold and enhance the quality of website content.
- Leverage user experience expertise and analytics data to guide content and technical website developments.
- Engage with all departments to gather content and development requirements, preparing clear briefs for implementation by developers or agencies.
- Manage the website backlog jointly with the developer, prioritizing changes that meaningfully enhance user experience, with guidance from the senior digital manager.
- Execute the web components of the digital strategy as directed by the senior digital manager.
- Monitor and analyze website metrics and trends using GA4 and Hotjar to inform improvements in business performance.
- Lead training and support for web content publishers, interpreting their requirements and providing ongoing advice.
- Communicate regular updates regarding website progress and impact to stakeholders.
- Supervise and manage the website content officer.
- Perform related administrative duties as needed.
Essential Skills and Experience
- Extensive experience in delivering digital projects aligned to business objectives using Drupal.
- Proven track record in managing website content projects with a focus on navigation and user experience, leveraging Drupal.
- Strong expertise in UX principles, including web content creation, usability, site architecture, development, and design.
- Experience with analytics tools such as Google Analytics and Hotjar to make data-informed decisions.
- Skilled in stakeholder management, requirements gathering, and development briefing.
- Collaborative experience working with development teams, both internal and external.
- Previous line management responsibilities.
Desirable Skills
- Familiarity with emerging technologies and their role in communications.
- Experience in product management and using project management tools like JIRA.
- Demonstrated competency in conducting comprehensive user testing.
Qualifications
- A relevant degree or professional certification in UX research and/or product management is required.
