About the Role

Join Absa Group, a proudly African bank with over a century of history and a strong presence both locally and regionally. This role offers a chance to contribute to Africa's future by providing top-tier financial planning and relationship services to a portfolio of wealth clients. The Wealth Relationship Manager is tasked with recruiting and nurturing a clientele through personalized, relationship-driven banking, supported by an Account Executive. This is a mobile role requiring flexibility to meet clients at their convenience.

Key Responsibilities

  • Serve as the primary contact for all clients in the assigned portfolio.
  • Maintain continuous communication with portfolio clients to nurture the relationship.
  • Prospect and attract new clients predominantly via referrals and also from existing bank customers.
  • Encourage onboarding of close family members through the family banking strategy.
  • Ensure customers meet Client Lifecycle Management (CLM) involvement metrics from day 31 to 90 post-acquisition by monitoring account funding, digital activity, and product holdings.
  • Complete comprehensive Customer Discussion Documents for new clients handed over from acquisition teams.
  • Drive ongoing portfolio engagement to achieve CLM engaged status, supporting account funding, digital use, and product diversification.
  • Expand assets and liabilities balances and increase revenue per customer through sustained client interaction.
  • Monitor and promote funding growth by managing zero-balance, low-funded, inactive, and overdrawn accounts.
  • Conduct regular portfolio reviews, updating customer documentation and proactively addressing financial needs to cross-sell solutions.
  • Meet and exceed cross-selling targets across asset, liability, and foreign exchange product lines.
  • Collaborate proactively with business specialists to fulfill client requirements.
  • Maintain an updated schedule of client contacts and meetings, ensuring adherence to Premier Customer Engagement protocols.

Business Management (15% of time)

  • Achieve financial and client satisfaction goals including income, balance sheet growth, and client recruitment.
  • Periodically evaluate the portfolio to identify high-potential clients.
  • Comply rigorously with Absa Premier guidelines, legal, and regulatory standards.

Risk and Control

  • Perform all duties within regulatory compliances and enterprise risk frameworks.
  • Identify and manage risks and incidents relevant to the role.

Required Qualifications and Experience

  • Bachelor's degree from a recognized university, preferably in Business, Commerce, or Management Studies.
  • Approximately two years of experience managing high net worth clients, or in private banking, luxury sales, or similar sectors.
  • Proven success in sales and client service roles.
  • Experience managing customer complaints effectively.
  • Familiarity with handling operational risk issues.

Knowledge and Skills

  • Comprehensive understanding of Absa Africa's retail product offerings and an overview of corporate and small business services.
  • Proficiency with technical support platforms such as Flex, BOC, and IBOC.
  • Strong grasp of retail network business processes and operating procedures.
  • In-depth knowledge of audit requirements and operational instructions.
  • Awareness of Absa Africa’s risk policies and retail strategies.
  • Familiarity with the competitive market landscape and internal HR policies.
  • Experience in team leadership roles.
