The opportunity
Orrcon Steel Distribution is hiring a Warehouse Team Member for its Northgate, Queensland warehouse. Orrcon Steel Distribution is a major Australian supplier of steel and aluminium, providing a broad product range for many industries. The business is supported by technical know-how, full product traceability, strict quality standards, supplier partnerships, and a national distribution network that helps maintain dependable supply across Australia.
This is a practical, physical position involving the use of overhead gantry cranes and forklifts to pick, pack, and prepare customer orders. You will also help monitor product quality and maintain a strong focus on safety for yourself and the wider team. Full training and support will be provided, along with opportunities to build skills and grow your career. Every day will be different, and prior experience is not required as long as you are willing to learn.
Working arrangement and pay
This is a full-time, permanent onsite role. The base weekly pre-tax pay starts at $1,124.28 and can increase to $1,220.94 depending on skills and experience, excluding allowances. Additional earnings may include overtime, public holiday pay, and a quarterly bonus. The operation runs five days each week, with day, afternoon, and night shift opportunities. The afternoon shift includes a 13.27% shift loading allowance.
Shift timings listed for this opening are:
- Day shift: 5:00 am to 1:00 pm
- Afternoon shift: 1:00 pm to 9:00 pm
Key responsibilities
- Help maintain a safe and controlled workplace at all times.
- Operate production and warehouse machinery to support steel manufacturing and order fulfilment.
- Pack and secure steel products for dispatch in a safe manner.
- Carry out basic machine upkeep, cleaning, and housekeeping tasks.
- Use overhead gantry cranes and forklifts as part of daily work.
