Tool Rental Technician

Role overview

The Home Depot Canada is seeking a Tool Rental Service Technician in Windsor, Ontario. In this role, you will keep the tool rental department running smoothly by making sure equipment is reliable, properly maintained, and ready for customer use. The job combines hands-on repair work, inventory control, transaction processing, customer support, and floor sales support.

What you will do

• Carry out preventive maintenance on rental tools and equipment.
• Inspect, clean, and prepare tools so they are ready to rent.
• Diagnose equipment issues using manuals, vendor information, and hands-on troubleshooting.
• Repair tools and keep them available for rental as quickly and cost-effectively as possible.
• Track repair work, log work orders, create contracts, take deposits, and convert contracts to invoices when items are returned.
• Monitor parts needs and forecast inventory so repair supplies remain available.
• Help train Tool Rental Sales Associates on tool operation, turning, and basic repair for both new and existing tools.
• Support customers by answering questions and sharing product and usage information.
• Make sure rental equipment is properly displayed, labeled, and maintained.
• Use the cash register and follow all associated procedures.
• Apply strong product knowledge across the department, including safe use, upkeep, repairs, and parts ordering.
• Spot possible equipment issues, identify likely causes such as worn parts or customer misuse, and suggest solutions.
• Keep the work area clean, organized, and safe.
• Act as a Sales Associate on the floor when needed.

• Solid understanding of tools, including maintenance, repairs, parts ordering, and proper use.
• Strong customer service and communication skills.
• Good judgment and the ability to solve problems effectively.
• Knowledge of customer service policies, procedures, and responsibilities.
• Ability to work a flexible schedule, including evenings and weekends.
• Ability to meet the minimum time-in-position and performance management code requirement of V2, or P3 under the previous system.

Compensation

The hourly pay range for this position is between 21.70 and 23.70.
