Role Overview

Join Tesco as a Trainee Baker at our Callington Superstore, where you’ll be part of a vibrant team dedicated to delivering excellent customer service and freshly baked goods. This position requires availability during specific weekly time slots, with guaranteed minimum hours and flexibility options.

Work Schedule

• Sunday: 09:30 to 16:00
• Monday: 12:30 to 18:00
• Tuesday: 12:30 to 18:00
• Wednesday: 11:30 to 18:00

Your shifts will be scheduled within these windows with at least three weeks' advance notice. We encourage applicants whose availability closely matches these times.

Compensation

The base pay starts at £13.28 per hour, increasing to £14.55 per hour for stores within the M25 area. Additional location-based payments may apply. Tesco guarantees a minimum of 16 hours weekly, with a minimum option of 12 hours for those seeking fewer hours.

Responsibilities

• Deliver passionate customer service by understanding and engaging with shoppers.
• Prepare scratch bakery items in batches throughout the day to ensure freshness, manage yield, and minimize waste.
• Handle bakery products carefully to preserve quality and appearance.
• Comply fully with food hygiene, safety regulations, and allergen guidelines.
• Maintain strong product and service knowledge within the bakery and broader store departments.
• Apply training consistently to maintain safe and efficient work practices.
• Perform safety checks on machinery and emergency stops before use and report issues promptly.
• Manage waste responsibly, adhering to food waste and recycling procedures.
• Understand store performance metrics and contribute to goals related to service, sales, waste reduction, shrink control, and profitability.
• Represent Tesco values by being authentic, welcoming, and compliant with store policies.
• Flexibly support other store areas including customer service, picking, and replenishment when required.
