Role Overview
This position is for a Technical Support Engineer to assist with the installation, commissioning, and upkeep of Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS). The role calls for practical experience with medium-voltage equipment such as RMUs, switchgear, and MV skid solutions, along with strong troubleshooting ability, on-site execution skills, and a firm approach to safety.
Key Duties
The engineer will work on-site to install BESS components including PCS, BMS, battery racks, and MV skid systems. The role also involves commissioning, testing, and debugging equipment to ensure readiness for COD.
In addition, the incumbent will identify and fix technical issues affecting electrical and control systems during commissioning and normal operation. Responsibilities also include conducting routine operation checks, inspections, and preventive maintenance after COD.
All work must follow site safety rules and electrical safety regulations. The engineer will prepare technical reports, commissioning logs, and maintenance records, while coordinating with clients, consultants, and project teams to resolve issues quickly.
The role further includes developing annual maintenance plans with the team and customer, supporting spare-parts forecasting, inventory tracking, and warehouse coordination, and carrying out system modifications and corrective actions as required by the client or project.
Requirements
A bachelor’s degree or higher in Electrical Engineering, Renewable Energy, or a related field is required. Candidates should have at least 2 years of experience in power systems, renewable energy projects such as solar or wind, or energy storage projects.
Practical exposure to RMUs, medium-voltage switchgear, and MV skid systems is preferred, and experience in large-scale BESS commissioning and maintenance is considered a strong advantage.
Applicants must understand electrical schematics, protection systems, and testing instruments. Familiarity with Modbus, CAN, and SCADA integration is also expected.
Strong awareness of electrical-site safety standards and HSE practices is essential. A valid safety certification, such as electrical safety or LOTO, is preferred. The candidate should communicate well in English, especially for technical documentation and workplace coordination, and must be able to work in demanding site conditions and adapt to the UAE climate.
