Role Overview

The company is looking for a friendly and well-organised Learning & Development Coordinator to join the team on a part-time basis, working 3 days per week. The position will act as a key support person for learning and development activities, training coordination, and employee capability initiatives.

What the Role Involves

This opportunity combines coordination, people support, training administration, and HR assistance. You will work closely with managers, employees, and the Australian L&D team to help deliver consistent development practices and effective onboarding experiences.

Learning & Development

  • Plan and schedule training sessions and learning programs.
  • Help deliver in-house training and support career development and succession planning.
  • Administer the learning management system and oversee compliance training activity.
  • Coordinate career events and talent-focused initiatives.
  • Work with the Australia-based L&D team to align processes and share effective practices.

Recruitment & Onboarding Support

  • Assist with screening applicants and narrowing down shortlists.
  • Coordinate reference checks and pre-employment medical assessments.
  • Support new employees through a smooth onboarding process.
  • Equip managers with the tools and guidance needed to onboard effectively.
  • Help recognise employee milestones through certificates and acknowledgement activities.

HR Administration

  • Maintain accurate training and development records.
  • Coordinate IT setup for new starters.
  • Track compliance requirements and prepare related reports.
  • Support wider HR projects and administrative tasks as required.

What the Employer Offers

  • Competitive pay.
  • A collaborative, team-focused environment.
  • Opportunities for learning, growth, and professional development.
  • Stable employment with a respected, globally recognised environmental organisation.
  • Work that contributes to the community and supports essential services.
  • Access to an Employee Assistance Program through Assure, covering mental health, nutrition, financial, legal, coaching, and career transition support.

Skills and Experience Needed

Applicants should bring at least 5 years of experience in recruitment and selection, along with a tertiary qualification in human resources or equivalent practical experience. Train the Trainer certification is required, and prior exposure to facilitation, employee mentoring, training, and generalist HR work is essential.

The right person will be a clear communicator with strong relationship-building ability, excellent organisation, and a careful eye for detail. The role suits someone who works well with operations and L&D colleagues, takes initiative, remains adaptable in changing situations, and handles confidential information with integrity. Comfort using Google platforms and learning systems is also important.

Additional Requirements

To be considered, you must be a New Zealand citizen, a New Zealand resident, or already hold valid work rights and a current visa for New Zealand.
