Position Overview
Serco is seeking a Tactical Command and Control (C2) Operations Subject Matter Expert (SME) to join the Air Combat Command’s Combat Air Forces Distributed Training Center (CAF DTC) at Langley Air Force Base, Virginia. This role involves supporting world-class integration training in both large force and small team formats for combat units globally, providing realistic virtual battlespace scenarios against modern threats.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead daily training operations including scheduling, mission planning, preparing mission materials, briefing participants, executing, and debriefing Large Force Exercises (LFEs) and Small Team events.
- Participate in CAF exercise planning conferences, such as RED FLAG, and collaborate with units to integrate their specific training requirements into mission scenarios.
- Offer expert consulting to military and defense clients on developing and assessing military training programs and doctrine, including specialized phases like doctrinal and scenario development, after-action review, and data analysis.
- Role-play various positions during Distributed Mission Operations (DMO) events including Air Battle Manager, Air Operations Center, Air Defense Artillery Fire Control Officer, ISR assets, and military aircraft.
- Work with simulation systems such as Advanced Simulation Combat Operations Trainer (ASCOT), Combat Environment Server (CES), Next Generation Threat System (NGTS), and Modern Air Combat Environment (MACE).
- Stay updated on threat environments, tactics, techniques, and procedures by studying tactical manuals and bulletins.
- Travel up to 10% for exercise planning, meetings, and training integration.
Qualifications and Experience
- Must hold an active U.S. Department of Defense Secret security clearance with eligibility to obtain TS/SCI and SAP/SAR.
- Experience as a former Air Battle Manager, Air Intercept Controller, or Weapons Director with platforms such as E-3 (AWACS), E-2, CRC, TAOC, or BMCS.
- Bachelor's degree with at least 9 years of command and control experience; or Master's degree with 7 years; or PhD with 4 years.
- Comprehensive knowledge of AFTTP 3-1 or equivalent service manual and familiarity with ALSSA Brevity and Air Control Communication.
- Operationally relevant experience within the past 10 years, including simulator experience.
- Additional desired qualifications include an active DoD Top Secret clearance, graduation from USAF Weapons School or equivalent tactical schools, mission commander qualification, instructional experience, and expertise in fifth-generation fighter employment or integration.
