Systems Administrator

About the Role

This position is for a Systems Administrator working with a Florida State Agency in Tallahassee, Florida. The contract runs from August 2026 through June 2027, with potential renewal. The role is onsite and exclusively open to U.S. citizens and permanent residents (Green Card holders). Compensation ranges between $65 and $68 per hour.

Qualifications and Experience

Candidates must hold a bachelor's or master's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related domain from an accredited institution. Alternatively, equal years of work experience can substitute formal education on a year-for-year basis. The ideal applicant should have extensive experience, including at least 5 years managing Windows servers—with a minimum of 3 years on Windows Server 2016 or later—3 years of experience with Microsoft Azure and Cloud technologies, 2 years working with Amazon Web Services (AWS), 5 years administering Active Directory, DNS, and Group Policy in environments supporting over 1,000 users, as well as 3 years of Linux server management. Proficiency in authoring, testing, and executing PowerShell scripts is also required, along with experience working in virtual server and cloud environments and supporting third-party applications.

Key Responsibilities

• Developing and maintaining processes to optimize resources in Microsoft Azure.
• Analyzing Azure resource performance to detect resource contention and recommending necessary upgrades or modifications.
• Performing management activities for Microsoft Azure Entra ID and Active Directory.
• Building, deploying, and maintaining processes to optimize AWS resources.
• Creating and updating technical documentation including specifications, standards, procedures, and systems documents.
• Administering and configuring security settings for Azure and AWS infrastructure to support IT staff and users.
• Assisting application owners and administrators with application access in Azure and AWS environments.
• Collaborating with data center staff and IT teams to perform deployments, upgrades, and configuration changes.
• Diagnosing and resolving issues with Windows and Linux servers to minimize user impact.
• Writing PowerShell scripts to monitor server properties and manage Active Directory and Azure resources.
• Researching and recommending technical solutions to meet organizational requirements.
• Suggesting improvements to departmental infrastructure processes.
• Scheduling software system development and implementation activities.
• Carrying out additional systems administrator duties as assigned.
