Support Mechanical Technician

Role Overview

This position involves supporting the maintenance and efficient operation of vital mechanical equipment such as the Hot Rolling Mill, Cold Rolling Mill, finishing line, Soaking Pits, Scalper, Stiffleg Crane, and utility systems. The role focuses on ensuring dependable equipment function through regular preventive maintenance, timely repairs, and effective troubleshooting, aiming to minimize machine downtime while maintaining safety, quality, and operational performance.

Key Responsibilities

• Maintain high mechanical availability of critical production equipment including Hot and Cold Rolling Mills, finishing line, soaking pits, scalper, and stiffleg crane by performing scheduled preventive and corrective maintenance.
• Work to reduce downtime and promptly restore operation following mechanical failures.
• Execute preventive maintenance according to planned schedules to prevent unexpected breakdowns.
• Keep detailed records and documentation of all maintenance work performed.
• Respond swiftly and efficiently to mechanical faults, diagnosing root causes and implementing timely rectifications.
• Collaborate with production and electrical teams to ensure rapid issue resolution.
• Adhere strictly to safety standards and protocols when working in high-risk areas and with heavy machinery.
• Ensure all tools, equipment, and procedures meet company and industry safety regulations.
• Maintain mechanical integrity through proper alignment, lubrication, and calibration of components.
• Ensure all repairs are of high quality to prevent frequent recurrence of issues.
• Generate and provide accurate maintenance reports to shift engineers or supervisors for operational planning.
• Manage availability of essential spare parts and tools needed for emergency repairs.
• Proactively raise requisitions and report shortages of spare parts.
• Support mechanical activities during scheduled shutdowns, including overhauls and installations.
• Assist in executing improvement projects alongside engineering teams.
