About the Role
The Belfast Soup Kitchen seeks a dynamic, physically active Support Associate to join our team. This role involves regularly lifting and moving heavy stock while supporting the daily operations of our food service program. Key Responsibilities
- Unloading deliveries and local food donations safely, organizing, weighing, and stocking items within the facility.
- Maintaining inventory by organizing storage areas, consistently applying FIFO stock rotation, and accurately tracking incoming food supplies.
- Driving to local partners to collect food donations using a company vehicle and bringing donations back to the Kitchen.
- Assisting with food-related tasks including food dehydration, prepping and packaging frozen meals.
- Cross-training to cover for absent staff, providing warm assistance to guests, and performing basic administrative data tasks as required.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Physical fitness to safely lift and move heavy crates and boxes weighing between 50 and 75 pounds throughout the workday.
- Knowledge of safe food handling practices, including proper storage, temperature control, and inventory rotation.
- Valid driver's license with a clean driving record is mandatory due to local donation pickups.
- Minimum education of High School Diploma or GED.
- At least one year of experience working publicly, demonstrating strong customer service and a cooperative team attitude.
- Comfortable using basic computer programs such as Word and Excel, with confident math skills for data entry and record-keeping.
Work Schedule and Compensation
- Full-time position, averaging 35 to 40 hours per week.
- Pay rate ranges from $18.00 to $19.00 per hour, commensurate with experience.
- Flexible daily schedule required, including availability some weekends.
Additional Information
This role is physically demanding and involves considerable movement, including standing, walking, and manual handling throughout the shift.
