About the Company
Our client is a well-established, family-owned manufacturer with over 40 years in the artisan food sector. Recognized nationally as a key supplier to major retailers and foodservice brands, the company is currently undergoing significant expansion backed by heavy investment. A strategic joint venture with a leading global partner has led to the construction of a cutting-edge production facility. This organization values an entrepreneurial approach and offers long-term career opportunities within a growing team.
Role Overview
We are looking for a proactive, high-accountability leader to oversee the entire supply chain. This position serves as a replacement for a senior executive transitioning to a strategic project role, who will assist with training and knowledge transfer onsite. The successful candidate will lead a team with three direct reports responsible for warehouse, procurement, and logistics operations. Ideal candidates demonstrate initiative and prefer independent decision-making over seeking constant approvals.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage the complete supply chain lifecycle, covering raw materials and packaging procurement through to final customer deliveries.
- Oversee logistics and distribution, managing a fully outsourced third-party trucking network and expanding ocean imports from Europe.
- Supervise inventory control and warehousing, including internal cold storage and external third-party freezer facilities.
- Ensure operational excellence by maintaining a customer fill rate of 99.9%.
- Support technological advancements including the implementation of a 3,300-pallet semi-automated freezer system and migration to SAP S4HANA ERP.
Candidate Profile
- Exhibits an ownership mentality, accountable for the profit and loss and overall departmental outcomes.
- Experienced logistics professional with strong knowledge of managing finished goods and frozen supply chains.
- Strategically and tactically skilled, comfortable with demand forecasting and capable of growing alongside organizational expansion.
- Self-reliant and able to operate independently without relying heavily on corporate oversight, with full capability within months.
Qualifications
- Extensive experience in leadership roles within the supply chain field; senior managers aspiring to a director role are welcome.
- Proven expertise in procurement of raw materials and packaging components.
- Familiarity with ERP platforms is essential.
- Prior work experience in the Food & Beverage or Consumer Packaged Goods industries is strongly preferred.
- Willingness to conduct site visits to regional third-party logistics partners in Pennsylvania and New Jersey one or two times annually.
