About the Role

Our PPD® Laboratory Services team plays a vital role in enhancing patient outcomes by leveraging the expertise of scientists and industry specialists. Based in our Analytical GMP labs, you will oversee analytical testing on pharmaceutical substances and products.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage the daily tasks of the Biopharmaceutical analysts, including recruitment, hiring, skill development, performance evaluations, and management of attendance and overtime.
  • Coordinate workload and resource allocation while monitoring key performance indicators to ensure operational efficiency.
  • Drive continuous improvement by suggesting and implementing process enhancements.
  • Ensure strict adherence to quality standards by investigating issues via root cause analysis and defining corrective actions.
  • Address audit findings promptly and support facility compliance.
  • Assist senior management with operational duties and policy enforcement.
  • Support development and execution of SOPs and company policies, ensuring compliance with safety and operational standards.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant scientific discipline such as chemistry or biochemistry, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Minimum of five years’ relevant experience with at least one year in a leadership role.

Required Skills and Abilities

  • Strong organizational capabilities with adaptability to shifting priorities and multiple deadlines.
  • Proven leadership in managing technical teams.
  • Mentorship and training aptitude for junior staff.
  • Solution-oriented approach to project challenges.
  • Effective written, verbal, and presentation communication skills.
  • Ability to independently conduct root cause analyses and write technical documents such as SOPs and investigations.
  • Understanding of QA metrics and quality systems, with ability to recommend SOP revisions.
  • Project and time management competency.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of GMP, ICH guidelines, client SOPs, EMA and FDA standards, and pharmacopoeia requirements.
  • Experience with analytical techniques including HPLC, UPLC, Electrophoresis (CE, iCE, SDS-PAGE), ELISA, and spectrophotometry.

Work Environment and Physical Demands

  • Work occurs in office, laboratory, and in the presence of electrical and biological hazards.
  • Exposure to biological fluids with potential infection risks; infrequent contact with irritants, radiation, toxic materials, and hazardous waste.
  • Use of personal protective equipment such as eyewear, gloves, and garments is mandatory.
  • Occasional exposure to extreme temperatures.
  • Tasks involve prolonged stationary periods and repetitive hand movements.
  • Occasional requirements for bending, stooping, crouching, twisting, and mobility.
  • Must be proficient with various software applications, both custom and commercial.
  • Strong communication skills to convey complex concepts to diverse audiences.
  • Ability to work effectively under stress, multitask, and meet unpredictable demands.
  • Consistent and reliable attendance is required.

Work Schedule

Standard Monday through Friday schedule.
