Key duties

• Examine all used instruments and related items returned from theatres, wards, and clinics, confirming their identity by name, type, function, and size.
• Disinfect contaminated materials right away, while following strict protective-clothing and safety precautions.
• Choose the appropriate cycle for cleaning instruments using the ultrasonic cleaner and instrument washing machine.
• Handle thermolabile items through ethylene oxide gas sterilization, including correct timing, cycle selection, and placement of the gas cylinder, and allow sufficient aeration time before release to ensure no gas residue remains.
• Use the ultrasonic fine lumen cleaner and sonic irrigator, making sure surgical instruments are placed properly in baskets and transferred between tanks at the right time.
• Reassemble cleaned surgical instruments into their respective sets and inspect them for condition, alignment, and sharpness.
• Package instrument sets according to sterile handling practices and medical arrangement standards.
• Label each set with its official name, expiry date, packing date, and batch code on the outer cover.
• Prepare a variety of operating-room materials, including lithotomy sets, abdominal sets, surgeon gowns, and other packs required for scheduled daily operations.

Requirements

• A degree from a recognized university is preferred.
• At least 1 year of experience in the same field is required.
• A sterilization license is required.
