Overview
This is a remote internship position focused on creating engaging Instagram reels for Sydney Music Lessons, with occasional on-site work in Sydney if required. The internship is unpaid but offers mentorship and a potential pathway to paid opportunities based on performance.
About Sydney Music Lessons
Sydney Music Lessons connects music students across Sydney with instrument teachers based on instrument type, price, and location. Currently, they are expanding their social media reach through effective short-form video content.
Key Responsibilities
- Conceptualizing, filming, and editing Instagram reels to grow Sydney Music Lessons’ Instagram presence.
- Researching current successful reel trends within the music and education space on Instagram and tailoring content to the target audience.
- Experimenting with various formats, hooks, and styles to identify what resonates best and scaling effective approaches.
- Featuring at least one musical instrument in the content, such as sharing quick lessons, snippets of songs, or following trending reel formats.
Candidate Profile
- Fluent in English.
- Prior social media experience is advantageous but not mandatory; eagerness to understand what drives successful reels is essential.
- Basic video editing skills required; familiarity with CapCut is preferred.
- Strong ability to analyze Instagram reels and determine why certain content performs well.
- Access to a musical instrument for use in content creation.
- Ability to differentiate between content that feels native to Instagram versus content that appears as advertisements.
- Must excel in one or both of the following areas:
- Being confident and charismatic on camera, comfortable engaging an audience as the reel's face.
- Strong editing capabilities to produce polished, refined reels that do not appear as raw user-generated content, even if not appearing on camera themselves.
Compensation and Growth Opportunities
This internship is unpaid; however, participants receive direct mentorship focusing on practical skills for creating effective short-form content and growing social media audiences. Exceptional interns may have the opportunity to transition to paid roles either within Sydney Music Lessons or affiliated digital marketing partners, contingent upon demonstrated results.
