About NovoEd

NovoEd builds a talent development platform that helps organizations create and deliver hands-on learning experiences designed to improve business performance worldwide. Founded in 2012 in Stanford’s social algorithm laboratory, the company serves global enterprises, executive education providers, and training firms that want to build important skills through practice, coaching, mentorship, and collaborative learning. Its approach connects learners, mentors, and leaders in an engaging online environment that helps organizations turn shared knowledge into measurable results.

About the Role

NovoEd is looking for a Senior UX Designer who enjoys solving complex product problems and creating experiences that feel intuitive and valuable. This role is best suited to someone who wants to work with a mission-driven team, take strong ownership, and guide design work from early discovery through final delivery. Design is a major part of NovoEd’s product advantage, and you will collaborate with cross-functional partners who care about quality, teamwork, and outcomes.

You will be responsible for leading design initiatives independently, helping shape product direction, and contributing to a fast-moving, user-focused environment.

What You’ll Do

  • Design flexible, collaborative, and social online learning experiences for large enterprises, universities, and training organizations.
  • Lead one to two major initiatives at a time, owning the design process from problem discovery through implementation.
  • Work closely with product managers to define the problem, set scope, explore options, and recommend the best solution.
  • Deliver implementation-ready mockups and design assets while partnering with engineers to balance product quality and technical feasibility.
  • Run user research and usability testing to confirm design choices and better understand user needs.
  • Help resolve roadblocks by aligning stakeholders, suggesting practical solutions, and adjusting scope when needed.
  • Contribute to broader product strategy and roadmap conversations.

Experience & Skills Needed

  • At least 5 years of experience designing products that are used at scale by end users and clients.
  • A strong record of addressing complex, real-world problems with thoughtful, user-centered solutions.
  • Hands-on capability across the full UX process, including wireframing, user flows, high-fidelity mockups, prototyping, user interviews, and usability testing.
  • Advanced proficiency in Figma, including components and design libraries.
  • Experience working within established design systems and helping improve them over time.
  • Strong visual design judgment with a sharp eye for detail and polished execution.
  • Working knowledge of accessibility requirements, including WCAG 2.1, and inclusive design practices.
  • Experience designing responsive web and mobile experiences.
  • Understanding of HTML/CSS and common development limitations.
  • Bonus: experience creating AI-powered features that improve workflows and personalize the experience.
  • Bonus: familiarity with GenAI tools to speed up design and research workflows.

Preferred Working Style

The ideal candidate is comfortable leading projects independently, managing stakeholder relationships, and making decisions without constant direction. You should be able to navigate ambiguity, turn unclear inputs into usable design direction, collaborate effectively with product and engineering teams, communicate complex ideas clearly, and remain adaptable as priorities evolve. NovoEd also values designers who combine analytical thinking with empathy for users, especially when research is incomplete.

Perks & Benefits

  • A collaborative team environment.
  • Remote-friendly team activities such as virtual classes, happy hours, and other online events.
  • Company-supported professional development.
  • Paid parental leave.
  • Flexible vacation policy.
  • Comprehensive health coverage.
  • Reimbursement for phone and internet expenses.

Hiring Process

The process includes an initial recruiter conversation, followed by a phone interview if your background aligns with the role. Candidates who move forward will then participate in virtual interviews with a group of 3 to 7 people, depending on seniority.

Equal Opportunity

NovoEd is committed to equal employment opportunity and does not discriminate or tolerate harassment based on race, color, religion, age, sex, national origin, disability, genetics, veteran status, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, or any other protected characteristic. This applies to all terms of employment, including recruiting, hiring, placement, promotion, termination, layoff, recall, transfer, leaves of absence, compensation, and training.

Compensation

This role includes a 10% bonus. The stated salary range is USD 145,000 to USD 150,000 per year.
