Senior Systems Testing and Quality Assurance Specialist

Job Overview

We are looking for a seasoned Systems Testing and Quality Assurance Specialist bringing over a decade of software testing expertise in enterprise IT settings. This role requires proficiency in manual and automated testing, along with a solid grasp of test planning, performance evaluations, API testing, and overseeing end-to-end software quality assurance for large-scale applications. The professional will collaborate with project managers, developers, business analysts, and stakeholders to confirm alignment with business and technical requirements and uphold superior quality standards.

Key Responsibilities

• Craft detailed testing methodologies, including strategies, plans, cases, and scripts.
• Coordinate and conduct testing activities across all phases of the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC).
• Execute various testing types, such as manual, automated, functional, integration, regression, system, performance, and user acceptance testing (UAT).
• Develop and sustain automated test scripts to enhance testing efficiency.
• Perform API testing employing tools like Postman.
• Conduct performance and load tests using JMeter or LoadRunner.
• Identify, report, track, and verify defects utilizing defect management systems.
• Work closely with cross-functional teams to resolve issues effectively.
• Support Agile, Scrum, and Waterfall methodologies throughout project cycles.
• Generate detailed test and defect reports alongside QA documentation.
• Ensure adherence to quality assurance standards, security protocols, and accessibility regulations, including AODA.
• Contribute to the ongoing enhancement of QA processes and automation frameworks.

Required Qualifications

• More than 10 years of software testing experience within enterprise contexts.
• Profound skills in both manual and automated testing.
• Practical experience developing and executing automated testing suites.
• Familiarity with automation tools such as Selenium and Postman for API testing.
• Competence with performance testing utilities like JMeter and LoadRunner.
• Experience constructing comprehensive test strategies, plans, cases, scripts, and reporting documents.
• Thorough understanding of functional, integration, system, regression, performance, and user acceptance testing methodologies.
• Proficient in defect tracking tools including JIRA and Azure DevOps.
• Knowledge of QA compliance standards, including security testing best practices.
• Strong SQL skills coupled with database testing expertise, particularly with Oracle databases.
• Working knowledge of cloud services such as Microsoft Azure and AWS.
• Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines using Jenkins, Git, and GitLab.
• Understanding of SDLC and version control systems as well as automated testing frameworks.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with Commercial Off-The-Shelf (COTS) software testing.
• Knowledge of object-oriented testing approaches.
• Exposure to CASE tools and Information Management best practices.
• Experience in programming languages.
• Background in public sector QA, especially with Ontario Government or OPS standards.
• Extensive knowledge of AODA accessibility compliance and testing.
