Overview

The Senior Safety Specialist will assist the Senior Manager Quality & Safety and Manager Flight Safety to implement the Safety Management System (SMS) within the Technical Department, supporting both fixed-wing and helicopter operations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Ensure full compliance with all applicable safety rules and regulations in technical and helicopter operations.
  • Adhere to Qatar Civil Aviation Authority (QCAA) legal requirements alongside company frameworks, procedures, and standards.
  • Maintain accuracy, completeness, and currency of all safety-related documentation.
  • Lead and assist investigations into technical incidents, maintenance occurrences, and helicopter-specific events to identify root causes and contributing factors.
  • Recommend and monitor implementation of Corrective and Preventive Actions (CAPA).
  • Prepare comprehensive investigation reports and coordinate with relevant teams.
  • Design and deliver training programs related to SMS for technical and operational staff, including helicopter-specific training modules.
  • Develop, update and maintain safety training materials, guidance documents, and e-learning content.
  • Drive safety promotion initiatives, facilitate awareness campaigns, and support continuous improvement in safety.
  • Conduct hazard identification and safety risk assessments covering fixed-wing and helicopter operations.
  • Maintain and update the Risk Register, tracking effectiveness of risk controls.
  • Support development and monitoring of Safety Performance Indicators (SPIs).
  • Process, analyze, and act on Technical Occurrence Reports (TORs).
  • Liaise with internal departments to address and mitigate safety concerns promptly.
  • Assist in technical audits, inspections, and safety reviews across aircraft and helicopter operations.
  • Represent the organization at internal and external safety meetings, including industry groups and engagements with regulatory authorities.
  • Undertake additional safety-related projects as assigned by senior management.

Qualifications and Skills

  • Diploma or Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Aviation Safety, or a related field.
  • At least 3 years of aviation safety experience focusing on technical operations, investigations, and safety data analysis.
  • Experience with Safety Management Systems (SMS) and conducting safety-related training.
  • Proficient knowledge of ICAO Annex 19, SMS concepts, and risk management practices.
  • Preferred background with Non-Commercial Complex (NCC) operators.
  • Familiarity with Learning Management Systems (LMS) and e-learning development tools.
  • Exposure to helicopter safety or maintenance operations is an advantage.
  • Fluency in English, both written and oral.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
  • Capability to prioritize and perform effectively in demanding operational settings.
