Role Responsibilities
As a Senior Project Manager within Florida Innovation, you will lead complex early-phase innovation projects while contributing to the development and consistency of innovation support campus-wide. This role operates with considerable autonomy, overseeing high-complexity initiatives, mentoring team members, and enhancing integration among innovation, clinical priorities, and enterprise collaborators. Responsibilities include:
- Oversee a portfolio of early-stage innovations with significant complexity, cross-departmental involvement, or strategic value.
- Act as a seasoned advisor to innovation teams, guiding them through ambiguity, decision-making processes, and trade-offs.
- Independently create milestone-driven plans, formulate learning agendas, and establish initial validation methods across a variety of innovation categories.
- Identify potential risks, obstacles, and necessary pivot points; suggest course adjustments based on feasibility and learning outcomes.
- Collaborate with partners in legal, intellectual property, finance, digital, research, and enterprise innovation to expedite processes and enhance throughput.
- Assist in identifying funding sources and support in proposal submissions and reporting for internal or external grants.
- Mentor and provide leadership to Program Managers and coordinators within the team.
- Contribute to insight generation for innovation portfolios, support priority-setting efforts, and prepare leadership-level reports.
- Design and refine scalable programs, intake procedures, and engagement approaches for the Florida Innovation group.
- Represent the innovation team at enterprise-wide meetings, academic collaborations, and multi-site initiatives as required.
This position carries responsibility for the full project lifecycle management of large, business-critical projects with high complexity and risk. You will manage budgets, lead problem-solving and decision-making activities, and apply advanced negotiation and project delivery skills. Agile methodologies are integral to this role, where you will also facilitate Scrum practices, motivate teams, remove barriers, and foster a culture of collaboration and continuous improvement.
Additional Job Functions
- Guide Agile teams in adhering to key practices and enhance team maturity at a sustainable pace.
- Resolve impediments and support conflict resolution without coercion, facilitating effective decision-making.
- Educate and support Product Owners in backlog creation and management.
- Lead, mentor, and develop project staff, fostering a project-oriented culture and best practices across the Mayo Clinic.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree with ten years of project management or business-related experience, or a master's degree with seven years of experience.
- Preferred educational backgrounds include project management, business administration, agile/scrum methodologies, and management.
- Must hold an active, unexpired Project Management Professional (PMP) certification.
- Additional certifications such as Certified Product Manager, Certified Scrum Master (CSM), Advanced Certified Scrum Master (A-CSM), PMI Agile Certified Practitioner, Risk Management Professional (RMP), or Certified Scrum Professional (CSP) are beneficial, though PMP is required.
- Authorization to work in the United States without sponsorship is mandatory.
Work Schedule
- Full-time, Monday through Friday during normal business hours.
- Occasional early mornings, evenings, or weekends might be necessary for business needs.
Compensation
The salary range for this role is $105,060 to $157,643 per year. Benefits eligibility applies.
Work Location
This position is based onsite in Jacksonville, Florida, at Mayo Clinic's Florida Innovation team. Mayo Clinic has several campuses including Phoenix/Scottsdale, AZ, Jacksonville, FL, Rochester, MN, and locations throughout the Midwest and internationally, each with a supportive environment for both work and personal life.
