Role overview
The Senior Manager, Legal Affairs will steer the legal function for the organization, delivering sound legal guidance, safeguarding compliance, controlling legal exposure, and supporting day-to-day as well as strategic business decisions. This position works closely with senior leaders to protect organizational interests while helping the business move forward efficiently.
Key responsibilities
- Direct the legal affairs function and advise senior leadership on strategic legal matters.
- Prepare, review, negotiate, and administer a broad range of commercial contracts, agreements, and legal documents.
- Ensure adherence to relevant laws, regulations, governance standards, and internal policies.
- Spot, evaluate, and reduce legal and regulatory risk across the organization.
- Handle disputes, litigation, arbitration, and coordination with outside legal counsel when needed.
- Support corporate deals, partnerships, mergers, acquisitions, and other strategic initiatives from a legal standpoint.
- Create and maintain legal policies, procedures, and governance structures.
- Counsel management on labor, corporate, commercial, procurement, and contract-related issues.
- Assist procurement and business teams during contract discussions and vendor agreement negotiations.
- Track legislative updates and determine their effect on the organization.
- Lead legal due diligence for major projects and transactions.
- Manage intellectual property matters, confidentiality agreements, and data protection obligations.
- Oversee the legal budget and relationships with external legal service providers.
- Build team capability through coaching, guidance, and performance management.
Qualifications
A Bachelor’s degree in Law (LLB) is required. A Master’s degree in Law (LLM) is preferred. The role calls for 8–10 years of progressive legal experience.
