Role Overview

In this leadership position, you will oversee complex tender processes, ensuring submissions are precise, competitive, and aligned with BMD's values and approaches. You will collaborate closely with the Chief Estimator, construction teams, and senior leadership to help secure major infrastructure projects in sectors such as transport, defence, and resources.

Core Responsibilities

• Lead preparation and review of tender documents and pricing submissions.
• Evaluate project risks, identify opportunities, and analyze market competitiveness.
• Obtain and assess quotations from suppliers and subcontractors.
• Employ Expert Estimation software to develop detailed direct and indirect cost breakdowns.
• Organize site inspections, pre-tender meetings, and engage with stakeholders effectively.
• Handle post-tender negotiations and transition projects to delivery teams.
• Guide and mentor junior estimating staff, promoting continuous process improvements.
• Establish and maintain strong relationships with clients, consultants, suppliers, and subcontractors.

Candidate Profile

The successful candidate will be based in the Perth office, playing a vital role in producing competitive, high-quality tenders for significant civil infrastructure projects across Western Australia. Working closely with senior management and delivery teams, you will combine technical expertise and commercial acumen to help win projects that impact the transport and resource sectors. Experience with FRP (form, reinforcement, pour) and structural concrete projects, particularly large bridges, structures, and road infrastructure, will be highly valued.

Qualifications and Experience

• At least eight years of experience leading tender preparation in the civil construction industry, especially in Transport, Defence, or Renewable sectors.
• Proficiency with estimating software such as Expert Estimation for thorough cost analysis and breakdown.
• Strong knowledge of contract terms, risk evaluation, and market pricing.
• Excellent communication, collaboration, and stakeholder engagement capabilities.
• Demonstrated ability to mentor junior estimators and enhance team performance.
• Strong organizational skills to manage multiple tenders simultaneously in a fast-paced setting.
