Senior Cost Controller

About the Role

Management Solutions International (MSI) is seeking a highly skilled Senior Cost Controller to manage cost control, budgeting, forecasting, and financial oversight for multiple large-scale construction projects in Doha, Qatar. This role requires solid construction industry expertise and strong financial acumen to ensure accurate project reporting and cost management while supporting commercial decision-making. The position reports to the Cost Control Manager and involves collaboration with project leaders, engineers, procurement teams, and executive management. Proficiency with Microsoft Dynamics AX and Microsoft Dynamics 365 Finance & Operations is essential.

Responsibilities

• Managing project cost control, including budgeting, forecasting, and financial reporting.
• Overseeing ERP systems management, specifically Microsoft Dynamics AX and Dynamics 365 F&O.
• Conducting detailed cost analysis and ensuring adherence to internal financial controls.
• Supporting project teams with accurate financial data to inform commercial decisions.
• Driving continuous process improvements related to cost control and reporting.

Performance Metrics

• Ensuring budget and forecast accuracy.
• Timely delivery of financial reports and reduction of cost variances.
• Improving project margins and maintaining accurate cash flow forecasts.
• Maintaining integrity in ERP data and accuracy in Cost-to-Complete and Work-In-Progress (WIP) calculations.
• Ensuring efficient month-end closing processes and addressing audit findings.

Qualifications & Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, Finance, Accounting, Quantity Surveying, Economics, or related field. Advanced degrees such as MBA or MSc are preferred.
• Professional certifications like CPA, ACCA, CMA, CIMA, PMP, CCP, or MRICS are desirable.
• At least 10 years of experience in construction cost control with a minimum of 5 years in senior-level roles.
• Experience managing projects valued over USD 100 million.
• Strong familiarity with ERP solutions, particularly Microsoft Dynamics AX and Dynamics 365 Finance & Operations.

Technical Skills

• Expertise in construction costing, Cost Breakdown Structure (CBS), Work Breakdown Structure (WBS), and Earned Value Management.
• Proficiency in forecasting, cash flow analysis, budgeting, procurement, and contract administration.
• Solid understanding of International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) and project accounting principles.
• Advanced skills in Power BI, Microsoft Excel, and Microsoft 365 suite.

Assessment

Candidates will be required to complete a practical case study exercise focused on cost reporting, Estimate at Completion (EAC) preparation, forecasting, budget versus actual analysis, utilizing workflows in Dynamics AX/D365 F&O, and preparing an executive dashboard using Excel or Power BI.
