Key responsibilities
This position is broader than standard compliance work. You will work closely with clients as a trusted advisor and support decisions that affect their business performance. The role involves preparing budgets, forecasts, monthly reporting, and year-end financial statements, including more complex consolidations.
- Support virtual CFO services by handling budgeting, forecasting, and financial reporting
- Prepare detailed financial statements, including consolidated accounts and compilations
- Produce monthly reports, forecasts, and tax-related documents
- Take part in advisory assignments and provide practical support based on client needs
- Develop strong client relationships and become a dependable point of contact over time
- Contribute to commercial and advisory initiatives
- Guide junior team members and help maintain a positive team environment
About the ideal candidate
The right person will be commercially aware, well organised, and comfortable working in a fast-moving, collaborative setting. This role suits someone who is ready to take the next step in their accounting career.
- At least 3 years of experience in a CA environment
- Strong Excel capability, including modelling, analysis, and reporting
- Comfortable using Xero; familiarity with MYOB or similar systems is an advantage
- Working toward, or already holding, a CA or CPA qualification
- Excellent attention to detail and solid problem-solving ability
- Clear and confident communication style with a team-focused approach
- Bachelor's degree in accounting or a closely related field
- Legal right to work in New Zealand
