About the Role
The Security Systems Technician position involves the installation, maintenance, and support of sophisticated electronic security access control systems for large enterprise environments. This role demands proficiency with platforms like Lenel, Honeywell, CCURE, and Vanderbilt, combined with a broad understanding of integrated security solutions. Duties encompass both fieldwork and technical assistance, ensuring that security systems function reliably, securely, and according to client specifications.
Responsibilities
- Set up, configure, and commission enterprise-scale access control systems
- Conduct routine maintenance, diagnostics, and troubleshooting on security equipment
- Manage platforms including Lenel, Honeywell, CCURE, and Vanderbilt
- Execute system updates such as software patches and firmware upgrades
- Identify and resolve hardware, software, and network issues within security setups
- Operate integrated systems including CCTV, intrusion detection, and alarm systems
- Deliver both on-site and remote technical support to clients
- Ensure compliance with industry standards and internal company protocols
- Maintain detailed records of installations, service activities, and system configurations
- Work collaboratively with project managers, engineers, and colleagues during deployments
- Provide input for system design improvements and ongoing enhancements
- Offer end-user training on system functionalities as necessary
- Respond to service requests and participate in after-hours on-call rotations if required
- Maintain high customer satisfaction through professional and responsive service
Qualifications
- Comprehensive knowledge of enterprise access control system architecture and operations
- Hands-on experience with security platforms like Lenel, Honeywell, CCURE, or Vanderbilt
- Understanding of networking basics including IP addressing, VLANs, and troubleshooting
- Familiar with integrated security systems such as CCTV, intercoms, alarms, and platforms like Genetec or AMAG
- Ability to interpret technical drawings and system schematics effectively
- Strong diagnostic and problem-resolution capabilities
- Excellent communication skills and customer interaction ability
- Capable of working both autonomously and within a team environment
- Relevant certifications (e.g., Lenel, Honeywell, CCURE, Vanderbilt) are beneficial but not mandatory
Experience
- At least 3 years of experience in enterprise security system installation and support
- Proven history in handling access control systems within commercial or large-scale enterprise contexts
- Prior experience in field service or project-based roles is preferable
