About the Role
Transport for NSW is seeking a dedicated Road Worker to join their projects team in Hay, NSW. This permanent full-time role is focused on performing critical road maintenance and manual labor tasks that contribute to the safety and accessibility of the state's road network. The opportunity involves working with various plant equipment and hand tools to carry out pavement repairs, rehabilitation, corridor upkeep, and patching work.
Key Responsibilities
- Execute maintenance and manual labor using powered and non-powered hand tools alongside plant machinery.
- Conduct road-related activities including pavement repairs, corridor maintenance, and both minor and significant patching operations.
- Work safely and efficiently on manual road tasks within a supervised team environment.
- Ensure roads remain safe and dependable to facilitate community travel and safety objectives.
- Demonstrate flexibility by working outside normal hours, responding to callouts, and traveling away from home when necessary.
Candidate Profile and Requirements
- Enjoys teamwork and possesses attention to detail with experience or willingness to work in laboring and general road maintenance roles.
- Recognized for a focus on safety, ability to follow instructions, and enthusiasm for physical, outdoor manual work using hand tools and equipment.
- Eager to learn road maintenance tasks to contribute quality outcomes for the community.
- Resides within 100 kilometers of the Hay Works depot or is willing to relocate to meet this requirement.
- Holds mandatory certifications and licenses: White Card, Australian C Class Driver's License, Traffic Control tickets (Implement Traffic Control Plan and Prepare Work Zone).
- Possession of a higher-class truck license is advantageous but not required.

- The position requires residence within 100 km of the Hay depot due to workplace health, safety, and fatigue management practices.
- The role is strictly an on-site position based at Hay, NSW 2711.
